A Love Like Yours -poem

A Love Like Yours

Spread the love

To nights we fought.
To days we loved and to the years we have created.

You are my home, full of gardened flowers with a few thorns.
With spring like sunshine and bees humming around.

I could see rainbows in every embrace you gave me.
I could feel a rose bloom in my heart with every kiss you landed on my face.
This was me, romanticising us and what we created.

Like being on a snow covered mountains where you want to reach the peak but you slip downwards yet break a fall and start again.

We pant. We go breathless. We stop. We move again.
What is love without oxygen running out of the body?
What is love without your heart pumping blood more than it should, what is love without your hand in mine?

There was this one time I needed a friend too and I saw you.
Right next to me.
I always wonder what and which chords of your heart did the cupid hit.

Love has shades.
– A garden
– A mountain
– And also a true friend

And sometimes, love is shapeless, it can’t be contained in a form.
It flows on and out like a stream, like a river meeting the ocean.

For me you’re the ocean.
You’re love.
