False Promises

The Prying Prey

Spread the love

The moon that once shined upon us like it was a ball of silver has turned red: murky and wicked.

The stars that often witnessed my love for you are malicious. They spend the night sinisterly mocking your false promises.
They once twinkled in glory of our love turned villainous.

Your betrayal: splendid.
Fine, like a work of art. You moved around me with the shades of love so passionately. Like I was an empty canvas and you were filling me up with colours I could barely name.

Your love: toxic.
A love that has kept me in captivity for too long. In a drunken state for me to walk the pavement with shaky legs & breaking falls.

Yet, your smile is so kind.
You, shrewd soul. I asked you to stay when you threw away the last piece of my shattered heart on the floor.
No dinner was served that night, no wine, no love on my name. No kisses landed on me. There were just blisters on the remains of my forgone heart.

I kept weeping as the warm water slowly turned salty in the tub of that old apartment, yes, I kept weeping – I fell for a wolf dressed up in the skin of a sheep.
